Storrington 2:1

We had seen and liked Slawek’s beautiful and individual landscape images of the rolling hills of Sussex, and so asked him for a 2:1 workshop specifically on telephoto landscape photography in West Sussex. That’s exactly what we got. The conditions were not ideal – cloudless sky and blazing sunshine – but he turned these to good effect with a practical demonstration of the use of polarizing filters in landscape photography (I thought I knew it all, but I didn’t!). He then generously took us round his best viewpoints in the fabulous hills above Storrington, and managed to cover every aspect including focal lengths, DOF, camera settings, identifying promising sites, time of day and season, viewpoint, composition, moment and of course light. Despite the conditions we both came away with good images that were unlike any either of us had taken before. It was an inspiring session, and we would recommend this workshop to anyone who loves the Sussex Downs, but finds it hard to turn it into eye-catching landscape photographs. It is hard not to share Slawek’s enthusiasm.
